Escape from the ordinary at one of the finest hotels in the area for your Grand Canyon vacation. Just near the gateway to the Grand Canyon is the beautiful and recently renovated Mountain Ranch Resort at Beacon Hill, the home of exquisite comfort, endless accommodations, and some of the healthiest and most divine cuisine in Arizona. Stop by to enjoy the Resort itself, or visit when the resort is closed during the winter to enjoy one of several private guest homes, each decorated with an impeccable eye for detail, quality, and comfort. You may come for the Grand Canyon, but with on-site attractions like horseback riding, hiking, and tennis, you may stay just to enjoy all that this beautiful resort has to offer.

Rooms

Guests can choose between rooms and cabins. The lodge rooms cannot guarantee a view and they are very basic but comfortable and homey. The rooms are rustic and some do not include a private bathroom, so if that is a necessity for you, make sure to ask for it and be prepared to pay extra. Most rooms only have one full size bed. There are other lodges within just a few steps, so it’s easy to walk over and enjoy the amenities of the more expensive lodges.

Two cabins are worth mentioning: The Buckey O’Neill Cabin and the Red Horse Cabin. Built in the 1890’s and named after one of Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders, Mary Coulter memorialized Buckey O’Neill with this cabin designation. This cabin offers canyon views and a cozy atmosphere.

The Red Horse Cabin is the oldest building on the South Rim. Built in 1890, it was moved from Red Horse Ranch in 1902 by a local businessman for use as a tourist hotel at the Bright Angel Trailhead. From 1910 to 1935, it served as a post office.

The cabins have been rehabilitated and restored to accommodate today’s guests desire.

While the rooms are small and basic, the interior is clean and comfortable.
