Snapbot Sighted at Grand Canyon National Park

Visitors of the Grand Canyon  have another souvenir to purchase. A Snapbot Spectacle vending machine had landed just outside Grand Canyon National Park. These Spectacles allow patrons to look at the sights in a different light along their Grand Canyon tour.

These “Snapbots” are vending machines for a new wearable tech called “Snapchat Spectacles.” These glasses allow the wearer to take 10 seconds of video at a time and post it onto their Snapchat account. Having these glasses nearby can allow Grand Canyon tourists to share the sights with their Snapchat followers from their point of view.

Imagine getting a pair of these glasses then going on the Grand Canyon trails. You could give your Snapchat followers a short glimpse of the massive cliffs. You can make them feel like they’re in your shoes experiencing the Grand Canyon weather, picturesque views, and adventure. Social media has become the new vacation slide show.

This is not only a great opportunity for Grand Canyon tourists, but Grand Canyon tourism in general. Currently, there aren’t many Snapbot vending machines out there and the Spectacles aren’t sold in stores aside from Snapchat’s pop-up shop in NYC. Auctions on eBay for the Spectacles are sold anywhere from $300 to $1,000. This vending machine location will have hundreds of would-be Grand Canyon tourists or visitors from Las Vegas driving out of their way to purchase the Spectacles.

If you decide to take a detour on your way to the Grand Canyon to get a pair, be prepared. Due to the exclusivity and rarity of the Spectacles, you will likely have to wait in a long line to get yourself a pair. Even if you do wait, you have to have $130 to purchase a pair or deal with the disappointment of the vending machine being sold out.
