News | Plastic Bottle ban at Grand Canyon called off
A litter reduction plan targeting plastic disposable bottles planned to come into effect on January 1, 2012 has been scrapped. The initiative was meant to help reduce waste at the Grand Canyon National Park. The proposed ban would have allowed visitors to have their own disposable plastic bottles enter the park but no plastic bottles would have been sold.
Disposable bottles of water will continue to be sold in the park though environmentalists are encouraging visitors to use the park water refilling stations as an alternative.
