The Grand Canyon Visitor Center’s premiere attraction is the new Grand Canyon: Rivers of Time movie. Our new IMAX® screen stands 6 stories tall with a reflective surface allowing for heightened realism drawing you into something as close to reality as you can possibly experience. The 12,000 watts of sound allow for heart-pounding audio with an endless sweet spot, there’s not a bad spot in the theatre. The IMAX® Laser projection system features a new optical engine that delivers increased resolution, sharper and brighter images, deeper contrast, and the widest range of colors allowing the Grand Canyon to be shown like never before.

Where is the Grand Canyon Visitor Center?
There are a number of Grand Canyon Visitor Centers at and around the south rim. Most notably at Mather Point and the El Tovar Hotel inside the park. We are located at the South Entrance just outside the Grand Canyon National Park. The Visitor Center and IMAX Theatre are located at Highway 64. Our Visitor Center is best known for housing an IMAX Theatre since 1984. We’ve had the pleasure of helping tens of millions of visitors. Our IMAX Theatre was recently upgraded with the latest IMAX with Laser technology.
What is located inside the Grand Canyon Visitor Center?
We provide our guests with a variety of tour options and the ability to purchase pre-pay passes to the park. We have information about the Inner Canyon and the local area that includes lodging, attractions, shopping, dining and events. The Grand Canyon Visitor Center itself is home to the most famous IMAX® movie theater of all time and has the Explorer’s Café for our hungry travelers. Our Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and able to help you make the most out of your time at the National Park. We even have an Adventure Store where guests may purchase branded merchandise, souvenirs, books, dvds, outfitter gear and more.
I hear there is an awesome new IMAX® film about Grand Canyon. Where and when does it play?
We are glad the word is getting out about our brand new IMAX® Theatre upgrade and new 35 minute film called Grand Canyon: Rivers of Time. The movie is playing daily hourly on the half hour during the day. The IMAX® Theatre is located at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center located in Tusayan, just outside the Grand Canyon South Rim gates.
Why should my family spend 37 minutes watching an IMAX® movie when the canyon is minutes away?
Experiencing the Grand Canyon in IMAX® will give you a deeper appreciation and knowledge of this amazing natural wonder. The IMAX® presentation will inspire and entertain. Grand Canyon: Rivers of Time is a journey through time at one of the world’s greatest natural wonders.
