What Grand Canyon hotel to stay at?
Grand Canyon National Park is one of the most awe-inspiring displays of beautiful American wilderness left, and understandably, it draws in massive crowds every year. No matter what time of year it is, one question is always asked more than any other: What Grand Canyon Hotel should I stay at for my Grand Canyon vacation?
There is certainly no single answer to this question because, unlike many other national parks and vacation destinations, there are several equally tempting options, and each provides a different experience. In the outlying areas surrounding the park, you’ll find chain Grand Canyon hotels, Grand Canyon motels, resorts, and campgrounds, but if you prefer to stay in the park, you can still choose between even more campgrounds, modern lodges, and rustic cabins for a quieter, more authentic experience. No matter what you’re looking for, you’re sure to find something you’ll love, but each area does specialize in a different experience.
Since the South Rim is open year-round, it’s where most people look for Grand Canyon hotels and Grand Canyon Motels, and rightfully so. While the other rims certainly have their own distinct advantages, the South Rim has enough guest services to make it one of the easiest and most convenient places to stay.
Those planning on staying the night in the Grand Canyon’s North Rim may choose to book a stay at the historic Grand Canyon Lodge and Cabins, but due to the well-earned popularity of this destination, you’ll need to plan about a year ahead to stay here.
Williams & Flagstaff
Because of the high capacity rates near the Grand Canyon during high season many visitors opt for accommodation in the nearby towns of Williams or Flagstaff. Both offer a convenient enough home base although it is a bit of a drive to the South Rim. Williams is the closer town but Flagstaff has more amenities so both are good options.
