Grand Canyon Footrace Brings Runners Together
For one day a year, the Grand Canyon’s very own half marathon has brought together all of the area’s athletes for the run of a lifetime. The beautiful vistas of the Grand Canyon at sunrise are the best motivation a runner could ask for, and at 6:45 on the morning of May 9th, many of the Grand Canyon’s most dedicated runners lined up on their narrow path for a bit of friendly competition.
The race officially began at seven o’clock, sending runners off of the main road to some of the Grand Canyon’s challenging and winding paths, and before you knew it, the 21 kilometer race was over.
The Grand Canyon is full of opportunities to get out and get active, so why not come by for a visit? The canyon is the perfect place for hiking, camping, biking, and more, and the Colorado River that runs through the canyon itself is a fantastic (and scenic) place to set out on a raft or kayak. Come by the Grand Canyon National Park Visitor Center soon!
