Closed road to east entrance of Grand Canyon park
A section of the road that connects Williams and Cameron to the Grand Canyon Park east entrance is shut down due to the snow and storms that is passing over northern Arizona Monday.
David Woodfill, Arizona Department of Transportation spokesperson, confirmed that the New Year’s Eve storm caused the closure of the road between milepost 242 and 264 of State Route 64, which is right outside of the National Park’s east entrance. Other entrances will are still open.
NPS confirmed that 6 inches of snow has fallen on the North Rim and between 2 and 4 inches has fallen on the South Rim.
“The road is closed due to inclement weather,” ADOT snowplows are at work to clear all state highways.” Woodfill said.
