GRAND CANYON, AZ.—Effective immediately, the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is shifting to Stage 2 water conservation measures due to improved water levels in reservoir tanks.
Operational updates include:
South Rim:
•Camper Services, managed by Delaware North, will resume public operations.
•Water spigots at both Mather Campground and Desert View Campground will be reactivated.
•Fire restrictions across the South Rim will be eased. However, Stage 1 fire restrictions will still be in effect, meaning campfires are only allowed within designated fire rings at developed campgrounds. In the inner canyon, only gas stoves are permitted; open fires and campfires are prohibited below the rim. River users must adhere to the fire rules specified in their permits for campfires along the Colorado River.
Even with these changes, water conservation efforts remain critical on the South Rim. Visitors and residents are encouraged to continue limiting water usage by practicing selective toilet flushing, taking shorter showers, washing full loads of laundry and dishes, and turning off faucets while brushing teeth, soaping hands, or shaving.
This move to Stage 2 is part of a gradual return to normal operations, while ensuring that water resources are managed sustainably. The park thanks visitors and residents for their continued cooperation and patience as essential services are restored.
