Grand Canyon El Tovar Hotel to remain open
The grand old El Tovar Hotel at the Grand Canyon South Rim will remain open during this year’s planned renovations. Initially there was talk of the hotel closing but the National Park Service voiced concerns about the lack of accessibility to the building for visitors from January to April 2014.
Some rooms will be closed to the public as they are used to house the builders working on the exterior renovations.
The 108 year old was supposed to be completely renovated by April 2014 but now the project will run on until 2015.
In the past, the Hotel has hosted such luminaries as Theodore Roosevelt, Albert Einstein, Western author Zane Grey, and many others.
