Grand Canyon North Rim Opens to Public

The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park reopens to campers and other members of the public on Sunday, May 15, after its long annual winter closure. The North Rim is closed during the cold months every year because of the snowy, icy weather and dangerous road conditions. After its spring reopening, it will remain open until October 15.

Camping at the North Rim costs between $18 and $25 per night. At each campsite, a maximum of six people, three tents, and two vehicles are allowed by the National Park Service (NPS).

The NPS suggests that campers make reservations early because the campground at the North Rim quickly fills up. Reservations can be made by phoning 877-444-6777 or by visiting http://www.recreation.gov.
