National Park Centennial Leads with Find Your Park Campaign

The Grand Canyon is pristine, beautiful, and accommodating while still maintaining its authenticity. This balance has helped the Grand Canyon become the popular tourist destination it is today, and the well-preserved wilderness surrounding the canyon itself is popular in its own right. The entire area is gorgeous, and visitors who plan ahead can tailor their Grand Canyon experience to their exact preferences. How could this place, millions of years old, still stand so well-preserved? It’s all thanks to the National Park service, and to celebrate the service’s imminent centennial, new opportunities to explore America (and save money) are being introduced.

The headlining addition to the American National Park experience is a website called FindYourPark.com. Through FindYourPark.com, you can share your experiences, find a national park near you, and learn more about the National Park System and the areas that it protects. The website was launched on March 30th, and it’s a lot of fun. There are even ways to support your local national park that you can access right through the site! If you’re a fan of the outdoors, you’ll want to check it out, so go visit FindYourPark.com today!

To help foster the experience of discovery and celebration that FindYourPark.com represents, this year’s National Park Week will be “Find Your Park”-themed, allowing newcomers and veterans alike to learn more about the new program, discover new ways to enjoy the outdoors, and share their experiences with the world.

Leading the way will be the Grand Canyon’s Earth Day celebrations on April 18th and 19th. Author Kevin Fedarko (“The Emerald Mile”) will be making a presentation and signing copies of his book after his presentation and during the following day’s Earth Day festivities. Members of the Green Team will also be making an appearance as well as plenty of park officials and works, leading the way in fun, interactive, and educational activities that are sure to entertain the whole family. The Earth Day festivities will be open to all ages and completely free.

Admission to the Grand Canyon National Park will also be free on April 18th and 19th, but as with all waived entrance fees, if you plan on staying beyond April 19th, you’ll need to pay admission price for the duration of your stay. Keep in mind that amenities like Grand Canyon tours, permits, food, drink, lodging, and special events will still require payment. Only the entrance fee will be waived, but that’s still enough to explore the canyon in all of its glory.

Here’s a breakdown of the Grand Canyon’s National Park Week…
– April 18th: Free admission, presentation by Kevin Fedarko at 7:30 at the Shrine of Ages auditorium
– April 19th: Free admission, Earth Day festivities including presentations and a book signing by Fedarko
– April 20th-26th: National Park Week continues, bringing with it endless opportunities to learn and have fun!

We hope you can make it down to celebrate Earth Day! Don’t forget to check out FindYourPark.com and share your national park experiences. Have a story about your last trip to the Grand Canyon? Share your insight in the comments section below!
