Testimonial: North Carolina couple find Outdoor Adventure at Grand Canyon
“My husband and I live on the East Coast and like to do outdoor activites when we can, so we planned a trip to the American Southwest, and since we hadn’t been to the Grand Canyon in over fifteen years, we decided we must spend part of our trip there. When we arrived on day one we immediately went to the Visitors Center, where we were greeted by very friendly and informative staff. We saw the IMAX, which both of us adored. Seeing the different parts of the Grand Canyon on the IMAX screen really blew us away! We also enjoyed learning about the history of the Grand Canyon as well. We really thought the IMAX was very well put together, would recommend it to any Grand Canyon visitor. After the IMAX we hiked a large portion of the south trail and took as many pictures as possible! Its just so beautiful out there! After our hike, we decided to retire for the night, so we checked into our room at the Yavapai Lodge, which was quite nice. On day two we started the day with a rafting excursion. We went downstream and saw all the beautiful sites along the water, and the guide was awesome! He was not only hilarious and made everyone feel at ease, but he also took the time to answer all of our questions. The rafting tour was nice and relaxing as well. We then dined at the Explorers Café, and did some more sightseeing before retiring for the eveing. On Day three, we went to some of the different Ranger Talks, which were our favorite parts. Its great because these Rangers know so much about the Grand Canyon and you can learn so much from them, and you get the vibe that they are excited to teach you these things. We followed the Ranger Talks with a hike along the rim trail, took our final pictures, and made our way out. The most memorable part of the trip for us was a combination of things, the hiking was great because there weren’t many others out there so we were able to hike at our own pace, and really enjoy the serenity of the trail alone, peacefully. The Ranger Talks also were something we’ll never forget as well. This trip by far exceeded our expectations, we love the way the Park Service runs the Grand Canyon. We’ve traveled to many National Parks over the years, and they are always so crowded. The Park Service does a great job of making the Grand Canyon a place where you can feel alone and not crowded and overwhelmed by others. I would recommend the Grand Canyon to anyone planning a trip and we are without a doubt returning in the near future.”
