Lottery for 2013 Noncommercial River Trips at Grand Canyon
The National Park Service has announced it is now accepting applications for noncommercial river trip permits. Permits allow holders to raft the Colorado River through Grand Canyon National Park. Permits are for the 2013 season.
There are 449 permits available for 12-25 day trips. You must be a 18 years or older to apply for a river permit. River trips are self-guided so technical whitewater experience is mandatory. Eligible individuals may apply at the Grand Canyon weighted lottery web site.
Individuals interested in professionally-guided river trips should not apply. The Visitor Center recommends checking out Grand Canyon Expeditions. They offer great tours of the Grand Canyon and Colorado River.
