Hear Retired Professors Frightening Tale of Being Lost in the Canyon
Need something to do while visiting the Canyon this week? Professor Tom McDonald “speaks life, death & redemption in the Grand Canyon”. Listen as he shares his harrowing tale of personal adventure & misadventure 6:30 to 7:30 on Thursday, November 15th 2012 at Kirk-Bear Canyon Library (8959 E. Tanque Verde Road).
In 2008, Tom McDonald hiked the steepest & most remote route in the Grand Canyon and was stranded at the bottom for two days unable to find his way back to his truck. Come hear why, in spite of his route-finding incompetence, his training as a physiologist ultimately saved his life. The talk will include background on the geology of the Grand Canyon, its flora and fauna, and some spectacular views of regions of the canyon that most people will never visit.
