“All aboard!” Vacancies at Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel

The Grand Canyon Railway became the primary lifeline to the Grand Canyon National Park in the early 20th century when it opened up safe and reliable transportation to one of the world’s greatest wonders. Prior to that, visiting the Grand Canyon was difficult and only the most adventurous of explorers dared to brave the elements of this remote location.

The rail service to the Grand Canyon began in 1901, carrying passengers to the South Rim and beyond until 1989 and continues today aboard modern cars and rebuilt tracks.

What to expect aboard Grand Canyon Train
The adventure begins at the historic Williams Depot in Arizona. Prior to the train ride, an outdoor Wild West-presentation of the Cataract Creek Gang takes place. Passengers also have the opportunity to visit souvenir shops or dine a hearty breakfast at the Grand Depot Cafe. A shrill whistle sound reminds passengers to get on the train. Uniformed guards then take care of passengers with utmost courtesy.

Aboard the train, passengers meet musicians strolling through compartments and witness a ’train robbery’ like the kind in the Wild West. The train travels to the historic Grand Canyon Depot which is the only still operating timber depot in the United States. Buildings like the El Tovar Hotel, the Hopi House and the Bright Angel Lodge can also be seen on this trip. A narrated tour of the Grand Canyon National Park in coach is another highlight of each visit.

Grand Canyon Railway Hotel
The family-friendly Grand Canyon Railway Hotel is located in the historical district of Williams, AZ, and is close to Williams Depot and Wild West Junction. In addition to two restaurants, Grand Canyon Railway Hotel features an indoor pool, a health club and a playground.
