Grand Canyon – Honeymoon of your Dreams

The Grand Canyon, one of the most famous geological wonders, is an incredible honeymoon destination choice. It is 277 miles long and 18 miles wide. The powerful Colorado River runs through the canyon, adding to its beauty. With the enormity of this destination, a honeymoon at the Grand Canyon is sure to be memorable.

We have compiled six reasons why the Grand Canyon National Park will make your honeymoon a memory that will last forever.

1. Hiking
To explore the canyon, you may do this by foot (hiking) and the most popular route is the Bright Angel Trail, a two-day hike. There are also numerous shorter trails throughout the park. No matter your preference, setting a goal and completing the journey together is a great feeling. There is also an opportunity to explore the park by taking a Grand Canyon tour which can even be by mule or horseback.

2. Rafting
As a couple, you can experience an unforgettable outdoor adventure by rafting the Colorado River. Begin your trip from Page, taking 6-8 days in a motorized boat or 10-14 days by oar. For an active couple, Colorado River rafting provides one of the most exhilarating river vacations in the world. Any trip along this river will be the adventure of a lifetime.

3. Camping/Lodging
Camping is a great way to enjoy the canyon, but if it isn’t your cup of tea, lodging on the floor of the Grand Canyon will help you get the most from your honeymoon at the park. Many of the structures at the canyon have historical significance, such as the El Tovar Hotel and the Phantom Ranch. Both the north and south rim lodges have fantastic restaurants for you and your sweetheart to enjoy an authentic southwestern meal. Many of the meals are made with organic products.

4. Wildlife
A surprising array of wildlife calls the park home, from majestic California condors to mountain lions and the curious Kaibab squirrel with its tufted ears. Deer, lizards, or snakes could also be nearby; tracks might tell you where a woodrat wandered, or at night you might catch the howling of coyotes. Beware of scorpions!

5. Sunsets
One of the most ethereal experiences newlyweds can have is to watch the sunset from the rim. The best places in the Grand Canyon to view sunsets are at Hopi, Lupan Points, Pima, Yaki and Yavapai.

6. Quiet & Solitude
The best place to escape the crowds is more than a half-mile from any shuttle stop or parking lot. The vast majority of visitors seldom venture farther than this; this is especially the case on the North Rim which has fewer visitors than the South Rim.

From the majestic scenery to the white water, to the hikes and sunsets, to the food and lodging experience – a honeymoon in the Grand Canyon sure sounds fabulous!
