Grand Canyon preps for eclipse party

The Grand Canyon National Park has a special event planned for the annular eclipse of the sun on May 20. The south rim will have NASA scientists and astronomers sharing telescopes for views of the eclipse.

The best place to see the eclipse will be at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center where the largest concentration of telescopes will be present. Make sure to get up early as the eclipse will begin at 5:28a.m. Arizona time.  The eclipse will be visible through the western 2/3rds of North America.  The Grand Canyon South Rim will be one of the best locations to see the event.

A annular eclipse occurs when the moon obscures the sun from earth.
