GRAND CANYON, Ariz. – The National Park Service announces forthcoming temporary closures for day-use trails along the North Kaibab Trail, stretching north from the Manzanita Day Use Area to the Supai Tunnel. During these closures, the Manzanita Day Use Area will remain open for visitors.
The trail segments will be closed between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the following dates: Monday, April 22, 2024, through Thursday, April 25, 2024. Monday, April 29, 2024, through Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Survey teams will conduct specialized work during these hours, involving technical scaling along canyon walls, posing a rockfall hazard along parts of the public trail route. This survey activity aims to gather essential data supporting future infrastructure endeavors at the Grand Canyon North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.
For the safety of hikers and survey crews, adherence to the following safety protocols is strongly advised during the temporary trail closures:

Visitor services at the North Rim will remain suspended until May 15, 2024.
