Calling All Explorers to Discover New Trail at Grand Canyon National Park

The Grand Canyon vacation just keeps getting better and better. Recently, hundreds of people congregated to celebrate the Bright Angel Trailhead renovation, which is one of Grand Canyon’s oldest and most popular trails. The dedication ceremony celebrated the importance of the renovations to one of the most visited trails that included paved parking for over 80 vehicles, a new plaza with a seating area, new stone walls, new restrooms, easily reached walkways, and a new trail sign etched in a rock.

The Bright Angel Trailhead Project was made possible by private funds from the Grand Canyon Association, as well as park entrance fees. To top things off, major donor Bill Sweeney revealed a matching donation of $15,000 to fund the renovation of the Historic Kolb Studios located on the South Rim of the Canyon. The donation was matched within 2 hours which motivated Sweeney to, yet again; raise his monetary gift to $25,000 which was also matched that same weekend.

According to Superintended Uberuaga, the funding was greatly appreciated and allowed them to complete the much needed renovation project.
