Grand Canyon Location

Grand Canyon is located in Arizona

A recent poll was conducted and found that just 38% of Americans knew that Grand Canyon was located in Arizona.  The licence plate slogan “The Grand Canyon State” doesn’t seem to be doing a good job educating the location.  The Grand Canyon Visitor Center IMAX needs to do a better job too!  The same poll also exposed American’s lack of knowledge of where Niagara Falls is located.  Well, let’s answer the question:

Where is the Grand Canyon located?

The Grand Canyon is located in Arizona, United States.  To be more specific, it is located in the northwest corner of Arizona. Very close to the borders of Utah and Nevada.  The Grand Canyon is located in the Grand Canyon National Park.  Or at least, most of the Grand Canyon is within the park.

The Grand Canyon is divided into South Rim and North Rim.  The Grand Canyon Visitor Center IMAX is located in Tusayan at the South Rim gates.  The South Rim is generally considered the choice for tourists as it has fantastic views and is generally more accessible.  Over 90% of the visitation to the canyon is received through the Grand Canyon South Rim.

There is an attraction to the west called the Grand Canyon Skywalk.  It is popular with tourists coming from Las Vegas as it is closer.

The Grand Canyon recently celebrated a 100th birthday.  The Grand Canyon National Park Act was signed in 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson.
