Visitor Center and Grand Canyon Park Remain Open

The Grand Canyon Visitor Center, home to the IMAX Theatre, Pizza Hut Express, Pink Jeep Tours and The Store remain open during the federal government shutdown as does the Grand Canyon National Park. Visitors arriving at the Grand Canyon South Rim park entrance can grab maps, guides and a bite to eat at our visitor center and then head straight into the park by driving past the unmanned entrance stations. There is no one to take admission fees during the shutdown so park entrance is free.

The national park-run facilities like the South Rim museums and back country permit office is closed. The North Rim entrance also remains closed as per the seasonal hours.  The North Rim opens May 15. Public restrooms remain open.

Plows have cleared the roads so entrance into the park is not a problem. This is a unique time to visit the Grand Canyon but who knows how long it will last.  We will provide an update when changes are reported.
