From Landscapes and wildlife to history and adventure, what’s the one thing about the Grand Canyon that has intrigued you?

The one most intriguing thing that stands out about the Grand Canyon has to be how large and expansive it is. You can sit there and read books and facts until you’re blue in the face and THINK you understand how huge it is, but until you actually see it in person you’ll never truly know.

If this is your first visit to Grand Canyon, what motivated you to visit? If this is a revisit, what’s your reason for wanting to come back?

What motivated my family and I to visit the Grand Canyon was the beautiful scenery. Absolutely everyone, including my ten year old brother and sister, can appreciate a beautiful, historic site when they see it, and you can’t get much better than the Grand Canyon.

What are five things your Backpack to the Canyon must contain?

My camera (of course), water (and lots of it), some snacks, sunscreen, and my cell phone.

What is the best way to get to the Grand Canyon – By Air, By Road or By Rail? Why?

The best way to get to the Grand Canyon is DEFINITELY by road. The state of Arizona is far too beautiful to just be passed over. Yes, my family’s main goal was seeing the Grand Canyon, but on our way there we took in all the different sights of Arizona as well.

What type of camera did you bring? Any tips on shooting the Grand Canyon?

I can’t quite remember the exact model of the camera I used while at the Grand Canyon, because I’ve since upgraded to a Sony Alpha NEX F3, but I do remember that it was a Canon point-and-shoot style camera. I highly recommend going on a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. That’s how I was able to capture the amazing shots I did. The first time I looked at the pictures I took when the helicopter tour was over I said to myself, “Wow. These are textbook worthy!”

What surprised you about the Grand Canyon?

How huge it was. As I said earlier, you can read books until you’re blue in the face about how huge the Canyon is, but until you visit it you’ll never fully understand.

As a travel destination, how would you rank the Grand Canyon from 1 to 10?

10

Did you visit the Visitor Center?

Yes. I liked it quite a bit. It was very informative, had clean restrooms, and offered a fantastic viewpoint.

Tell us a little about yourself!

My name is Cameron Ingram. I was born in Corsicana, TX, I’ve lived in Waxahachie, TX my entire life, and I am currently a sophomore at SHSU in Huntsville, TX. What brought me to the Grand Canyon was a family vacation. It was Spring Break, and we were slowly moving west taking in all the sites of New Mexico and Arizona before finally stopping at the Grand Canyon. I have always loved photography ever since I was 9 when my dad bought me my first camera and told me I was responsible for all of the photos of my newborn twin brother and sister. I’ve been an avid photographer ever since. I take my camera with me almost everywhere I go, because I never know when I’ll suddenly feel inspired to do an impromptu photo shoot. My other hobbies include hanging out with friends and going to the movies.
