For some adventure-seekers, a rafting trip along the Colorado River is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so it is understandable why Grand Canyon Expeditions believes “the more memorable trip, the better.”
You can drive to many scenic vistas within Grand Canyon National Park, or reach the spectacular overlooks in a tour bus.
The Grand Canyon National Park have activities planned for Earth Science week. Starting October 9th, events begin to celebrate earth sciences.
While the Grand Canyon itself is defined by its awe-inspiring natural splendor, Grand Canyon Village is a centerpiece for the region’s history and a living testament to the area’s pioneer days.
Traversing the myriad of trails on foot and descending the steep cliffs on a mule are exciting ways to experience the Grand Canyon. Embarking on a 215-mile, five-hour journey from rim to rim in a car is memorable, too.
Some good news on the California Condor front. Three condor chicks have hatched during one breeding season. This is a record for Northern Arizona.
Q Can you describe how you got interested in Grand Canyon and what got you started on your historical research path?
Q Tell us about your experience in this region of the Southwest and in particular with Grand Canyon?
The Grand Canyon features a diverse and majestic geological extravaganza. It stretches for 277 miles, measures from four to 18 miles in width, and averages a mile in depth.
Nine miles in length from the Grand Canyon Village in the east to Hermits Rest in the west, the west part of the South Rim is majestic, but the access road is closed to private vehicles from Memorial Day in May through September.
For a Grand Canyon adventure that few people experience, plan a journey to Supai, the isolated village of the Havasupai Indians.
The Grand Canyon Condor Encounter Bird Show ends for the season September 18th. If you are planning your trip to the Grand Canyon before this date, definitely schedule time for the show before it’s too late.

“My wife and I were in the Phoenix area visiting relatives, and since we’d never been to the Grand Canyon before, we decided to take a side trip there. When we arrived, we did some exploring and sightseeing, took a shuttle ride and snapped lots of photos.
While visiting my sister’s family in Sedona, we all decided to take a day trip down to the Grand Canyon.
“My wife and I have friends who live in Prescott, AZ. While visiting them, we decided to take a day trip to the Grand Canyon, because we had never been there before and our friends from Prescott insisted on it.
“My wife and I had been planning to take a vacation for some time, and we decided on the Southwest. We arrived at the Grand Canyon for a 3 day/2 night stay. We first arrived at our hotel, checked in and got settled, then headed over to the Visitors Center. We found the staff to be courteous and informative.

Q So let’s see where do we start? Maybe can you give us your general impressions of visiting the South Rim of Grand Canyon?

Q. What is your main perspective on the Grand Canyon and surrounding canyon country?
“My family of five decided on a vacation to see relatives and escape the Chicago cold in Phoenix, Arizona. While in Phoenix, we took a two day side trip to the Grand Canyon. Three of us, including myself, had never been to the Grand Canyon before.
“My husband and I primarily live in Washington state, but in the winter we live in Lake Havasu, Arizona. We wanted to take a trip, and since we hadn’t been to the Grand Cany
Q: I understand you are a wildlife biologist specializing in birds of prey, how long have you done this?
Q: How long have you been program manager at the Grand Canyon? A: I’ve been program manager for 2 years, although I’ve been with the program for a total of 4.5 years.
Q What is it like when you get to the overlook at Horseshoe Bend?
My husband and I were on vacation in Flagstaff and we learned through our hotel that they provide a shuttle service to and from the Grand Canyon on certain days of the week and that it was only about a two-hour ride.
“My wife and I had planned a vacation to Flagstaff, one reason being is that neither of us had been to the Grand Canyon before, so we decided now was the time to go.
