Closure of The Ribbon Falls Bridge until Mid March

The Ribbon Falls Bridge will be out of commission from February 14th until mid march as the Grand Canyon National Park repair crew works on restoring the structure. The bridge’s wooden parts including deck boards and beams have deteriorated and must be repaired for safety reasons.

Grand Canyon Uranium Mining Ban

The Obama administration is banning new uranium mining claims around the Grand Canyon. The ban will stay in place for 20 years, the longest period for a ban allowable by law. The move is hailed by conservation groups as a key to the president’s environmental legacy.
